Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments tailored to the unique challenges presented by older adults, including cognitive function and psychosocial factors.

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address specific psychiatric conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and dementia-related disorders.

• Use evidence-based therapeutic techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and supportive therapy, to effectively treat patients.

• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including geriatric psychiatrists and social workers, in delivering integrated care and ensuring that all aspects of the patient’s health are addressed.

• Respond to mental health crises by providing immediate intervention and support, demonstrating a capacity for a calm and effective response.

• Educate patients and their families about various mental health conditions, treatment modalities, and support services available in their communities.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes following legal and ethical guidelines.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your primary focus will be on elderly patients, who often face complex mental health challenges due to factors such as chronic illness, isolation, and cognitive decline. Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as an LCMFT, LCPC, LCP, LCSW, LSCSW, or as a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Kansas.

• Demonstrated understanding of geriatric mental health challenges and treatment modalities.

• Exceptional communication skills characterized by empathy and a patient-centered approach, particularly in managing delicate situations involving elderly clients.

• Proficiency in navigating electronic health record (EHR) systems, enhancing the documentation and management of patient information.

Preferred Experience\n

We prefer candidates who possess a minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in mental health counseling, particularly within geriatric settings. Experience in offering individualized and family therapy as well as familiarity with community resources is a plus.
