Key Responsibilities\n

• Deliver comprehensive mental health counseling to clients, particularly focusing on de-escalating crises and formulating strategic intervention plans.

• Evaluate and decide, in collaboration with law enforcement and medical professionals, the appropriateness of initiating involuntary detention procedures under California’s 5150/5585 codes.
\n
• Coordinate with third-party entities, including the Department of Mental Health and local psychiatric facilities, to maintain a smooth continuum of care for clients.
\n
• Document all case notes meticulously and uphold strict confidentiality regulations surrounding patient information.
\n
• Conduct field evaluations alongside police departments, aiding in the mental health assessments that guide immediate intervention decisions.
\n
• Offer urgent crisis intervention for individuals experiencing acute mental health episodes, focusing on non-violent solutions.
\n
• Actively participate in training law enforcement personnel on strategies for engaging with arrestees suffering from mental health issues, with a focus on de-escalation techniques to minimize the need for force.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

You will primarily work with diverse populations, including community members and individuals who have been arrested and are experiencing mental health crises. This role demands a nuanced understanding of the challenges faced by these patients, allowing you to provide empathetic counseling that respects individual dignity and promotes recovery.

Qualifications\n

• A Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.

• Active LPCC licensure in the State of California is mandatory.

• Strong multi-tasking abilities and prioritization skills are essential to manage a diverse caseload effectively.

• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with all stakeholders.

• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is preferred.
