Work Environment

Located in the vibrant city of Buffalo, New York, the surgical center at Prime Hospital provides an onsite work environment that fosters collaboration and support among healthcare professionals. This position requires a presence at our facility Monday through Thursday, with operational hours from 9 AM to 7 PM. The energetic atmosphere allows PAs to engage with patients and colleagues directly, ensuring a continuous exchange of knowledge and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments that involve detailed history-taking, thorough physical examinations, and necessary diagnostic evaluations.
• Order and interpret lab results, imaging studies, and other diagnostic tests to accurately inform patient care decisions.
• Collaborate with supervising physicians and clinical teams to develop and implement tailored treatment plans, ensuring coherent and effective care pathways.
• Perform a variety of procedures within your scope of practice, including but not limited to suturing, wound care, and catheter placement, contributing directly to patient outcomes.
• Maintain meticulous documentation of clinical encounters and patient progress within our electronic medical record (EMR) system to promote continuity of care.
• Provide education to patients regarding disease prevention, treatment options, and post-discharge care to empower them in their healthcare journeys.
• Engage in daily rounds, participate in case discussions, and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department.
• Stay current with medical knowledge through active licensure, board certification, and participation in ongoing professional development activities.

The Surgical Physician Assistant will work with a diverse patient population, ranging from those undergoing elective procedures to emergency surgeries. Qualifications

• A Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program is required.
• Possess a current and valid Physician Assistant license in the State of New York.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is essential.
• DEA registration with prescriptive authority in New York is necessary to fulfill specific patient care requirements.
• Excellent diagnostic, procedural, and clinical decision-making skills are a must.

Compensation and Benefits

Prime Hospital is committed to offering a competitive compensation package ranging from $120,000 to $150,000 per year, along with performance or productivity bonuses.
