Work Environment

This role will be performed onsite at our modern rehabilitation facility in Appomattox. The environment is designed to promote collaboration among healthcare providers and foster a therapeutic atmosphere for patients. Our facility is equipped with the latest rehabilitation technologies and tools, so our clinicians can provide state-of-the-art care in a dynamic and engaging setting. Your workweek will generally encompass Monday through Friday, with a typical shift of 40 hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough evaluations of patients referred by physicians, utilizing comprehensive assessment techniques to develop individualized treatment plans.
• Implement and adjust therapeutic interventions such as exercises, manual therapy, and modalities that address the specific needs of each patient.
• Document patient progress diligently and communicate findings and changes to the broader healthcare team to optimize treatment effectiveness.
• Provide education to patients and their caregivers regarding treatment plans, home exercise programs, and strategies to further aid in recovery.
• Maintain a strong emphasis on customer service excellence, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment for all patients.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in treatment discussions, regularly contributing to team meetings and enhancing care coordination.
• Meet established utilization goals and actively participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.

Patient Population / Client Focus

As a Physical Therapist at Down East Care, you will work with a diverse group of patients across various specialties, including orthopedics, pediatrics, neurology, and sports medicine. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited physical therapy program recognized by APTA or CAPTE.
• Licensed to practice as a Physical Therapist within the state of Virginia.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong ability to engage patients and their families effectively.
• Computer proficiency and ability to maintain accurate records within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Strong organizational skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient-focused care.

Preferred Experience

• A Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) is preferred, although candidates with a Bachelor's degree may be considered with relevant experience.
• At least two years of clinical experience, with a track record of improving patient outcomes.
• Experience working in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Compensation and Benefits
