Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and screenings to identify the mental health needs of students and recommend appropriate treatment interventions.

• Provide short-term individual counseling services addressing a variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and stress management.

• Facilitate therapy groups and workshops targeting key issues relevant to student development, such as coping strategies, self-care techniques, and relationship dynamics.

• Collaborate proactively with academic advisors, residential life staff, and student organizations to design and implement holistic student support initiatives.

• Engage in outreach and prevention efforts, spearheading mental health awareness campaigns and participating in campus wellness events to promote a culture of well-being.

• Maintain detailed and confidential records in compliance with ethical and legal guidelines, ensuring accurate documentation of clients' progress and treatment plans.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role focuses on a diverse student population at the university level, with an understanding of the stressors and mental health challenges unique to higher education. The Mental Health Counselor will serve students from various backgrounds, engaging them with sensitivity to cultural, economic, and socio-political factors influencing their mental health.

Qualifications\n

• A current and valid license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Psychoanalyst, or Psychologist.

• A master’s or doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
\n
• A strong understanding of the mental health issues faced by college students and the ability to develop tailored interventions to address these concerns.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with students and diverse campus stakeholders.

• Knowledge of brief therapy models and evidence-based practices appropriate for a university counseling center.

Preferred Experience\n

• A minimum of two years of experience working in a mental health role, preferably within a campus or educational setting.
