You will collaborate with educators and health care professionals, ensuring effective communication and a unified approach to mental health care.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments for patients and their families, identifying emotional, social, and environmental strengths and challenges in relation to their diagnoses, illnesses, or life situations.

• Develop, implement, and evaluate tailored intervention plans utilizing various therapeutic approaches, ensuring active involvement of patients and their families in the care process.
\n
• Facilitate discharge planning across a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with health care providers, consulting physicians, and third-party payers to ensure seamless transitions from hospital to home or school.
\n
• Provide education and counseling on adaptation to illness, coping strategies, and available resources for both patients and their families, fostering resilience and enhancing coping mechanisms.
\n
• Engage in crisis intervention, offering brief and long-term therapeutic modalities, including individual, group, and family therapies based on patient needs.
\n
• Be a resource for fellow staff members and offer continuing education to other health care professionals, sharing insights into psychosocial strategies and interventions.
\n
• Evaluate clinical needs of oncology patients, specifically addressing concerns such as depression and anxiety, and provide appropriate short-term counseling.
\n
• Participate in on-call rotation to handle after-hour inquiries and provide timely support to patients and families.
\n
• Represent You’re Next Psychiatric Services at educational conferences, sharing knowledge as an expert in psychosocial oncology practice.

• Contribute to community outreach initiatives through education, consultation, and research, enhancing resources and support for cancer survivors.

• Support the social work profession by mentoring clinical social workers in oncology and engaging in professional training and research.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role primarily focuses on supporting patients within a school environment, where students may face acute and chronic health challenges. You will engage with children and adolescents, helping them navigate their mental health needs in relation to their educational experiences. Our holistic approach aims to enhance students’ ability to thrive academically and socially, despite underlying health issues.

Qualifications\n

• A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution is required; a Master's Degree is preferred.

• Current LCSW licensure in the State of New York.
\n
• Strong knowledge of mental health diagnostics, therapeutic techniques, and applicable regulations.
\n
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
\n
• Experience working within a school system or with pediatric populations is a plus.

Preferred Experience\n

Preferred candidates will possess a background in psychosocial assessments, therapeutic interventions, and possess advanced crisis intervention skills. Familiarity with multi-disciplinary care approaches in educational settings or previous work with oncology patients is highly advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits\n

You will receive an annual salary ranging from USD 70,000 to 100,000, based on experience and qualifications.
