Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough preliminary interviews and assessments to document client histories, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of their mental, behavioral, and emotional health.

• Evaluate individuals' needs to create tailored intervention and recovery plans that address various mental health conditions for individuals, couples, families, and groups.
\n
• Facilitate engaging individual therapy sessions and dynamic group therapy workshops to promote healing and recovery.
\n
• Monitor client progress throughout the treatment process, adjusting strategies as necessary to ensure positive outcomes.
\n
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to develop cohesive intervention strategies and address the full spectrum of clients’ healthcare needs.

• Conduct follow-up assessments and report on any hospital admissions, ensuring continuity of care for clients.
\n
• Proactively identify barriers to recovery and devise strategies to mitigate these challenges to enhance client engagement in their treatment.

• Support family members and primary caregivers in navigating mental health challenges, providing education and guidance to foster a supportive network.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The Licensed Mental Health Counselor will serve a diverse clientele, addressing a wide range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and relationship challenges. The counselor will utilize trauma-informed care practices to ensure that all clients feel safe and respected, with a focus on empowering them in their recovery journey.

Qualifications\n

• A master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current licensure as an LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW in California.
\n
• A passing score on the National Counselors Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey important clinical information and foster therapeutic relationships with clients.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills that contribute to building trust and rapport with clients and their families.

Preferred Experience\n

• Previous experience working as a mental health counselor in a clinical or community health setting.

• Proficiency with electronic health record systems, specifically AVATAR, to maintain accurate and timely client records.
\n
• Knowledge or experience with co-occurring disorders and treatment modalities for substance use issues.
\n
• Familiarity with best practices set forth by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) to ensure adherence to ethical guidelines.

• In-depth understanding of psychopharmacology and the effects of medication on mental health treatment.
