Key Responsibilities\n

As a Mental Health Counselor at Family Matters Care Consultants, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting thorough trauma-informed assessments to evaluate each client's unique history and current challenges in order to determine suitable treatment options.

  • Creating and implementing tailored treatment plans that emphasize trauma recovery and resilience-building strategies.
  • \n
  • Providing individual therapy sessions using evidence-based methods, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

  • Facilitating group therapy sessions that focus on helping clients process traumatic experiences and develop effective coping mechanisms.

  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including psychiatrists and support staff, to coordinate holistic care for clients.

  • Offering crisis intervention support during trauma-related emergencies and employing skills to stabilize clients in critical situations.

  • Educating clients and their families about trauma responses, adaptive coping strategies, and available community resources to enhance their support systems.

  • Maintaining accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

  • Engaging in ongoing professional development and staying updated on the latest trauma-informed care practices through research and training opportunities.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your primary focus will be on individuals affected by trauma, including those coping with PTSD, complex trauma, and associated disorders. You will play a crucial role in guiding clients toward recovery by addressing their psychological and emotional needs in a supportive environment. This includes working with diverse populations who may have different cultural backgrounds and varying levels of access to support resources.

Qualifications\n

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

  • Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Texas.
  • \n
  • A strong foundation in trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed treatment modalities.
  • \n
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, characterized by a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to client interactions.

  • An ability to remain calm and composed when responding to high-stress situations or client crises.

Preferred Experience\n

While a minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience is required, candidates with extensive experience in providing trauma-informed therapy will be valued. Familiarity with trauma-focused therapies and interventions, especially EMDR and TF-CBT, will be highly beneficial. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems is also preferred to facilitate efficient documentation and client management.
