Our structured work hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, allow for a stable routine but also require flexibility for evening sessions on a rotating basis to accommodate client needs.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough assessments that accurately evaluate clients’ mental health, removing barriers to care, and identifying any co-occurring disorders that may be present.

• Partner with clients to create and implement individualized treatment plans that leverage evidence-based strategies to concurrently address mental health and substance use issues.

• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions where clients can cultivate coping mechanisms, develop relapse prevention strategies, and enhance emotional regulation skills.

• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, nurses, and addiction specialists to ensure cohesive and integrative treatment plans are in place.

• Carry out regular substance use monitoring and employ motivational interviewing techniques as a supportive measure to facilitate clients’ recovery journeys.

• Educate clients and their families about the complexities of mental health and substance use disorders, emphasizing adherence to therapeutic interventions.

• Maintain clear and precise documentation that captures treatment progress, methods utilized, and any referrals made, in full compliance with ethical and legal standards.

• Engage actively in staff meetings, case conferences, and training sessions to bolster knowledge and skills centered around co-occurring disorder treatment.

The individuals you will serve are those facing the dual challenging realities of mental health illness paired with substance use disorders. These clients require a therapist who is not only skilled in traditional therapies but also adept at navigating the complexities of combined mental health issues. This role is critical in breaking the cycle of co-occurring disorders, as you will provide essential support to these clients, guiding them toward sustainable recovery and improved well-being.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current licensure as an LCMFT, LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW-C in the state of Maryland is required.

• Proficiency in evidence-based practices tailored to co-occurring disorders including, but not limited to, Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment (IDDT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

• A keen understanding of the relationship between mental health and substance use disorders and an ability to address them simultaneously.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills that allow for effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary context.

Preferred Experience\n

While a minimum of two years of relevant experience is required, candidates with more extensive backgrounds in working with co-occurring disorders, particularly in a telehealth setting, will be highly regarded. Familiarity with the complexities of treating individuals with overlapping mental health and substance use issues is a significant advantage.
