BD & Investment Manager, AI + Game Tech

Overview Business Unit Tencent Games, a leading global platform for game development, operations and publishing, is seeking a Strategic BD and Investment Manager to strengthen relationships with US-based AI/tech and AI+ application companies. This role will identify collaboration opportunities, evaluate high‑potential investments, and bridge Tencent’s internal teams with external innovators. Responsibilities Lead frontline engagement with US and AI/tech or AI+ application companies to identify collaboration opportunities and establish long‑term partnerships. Identify and evaluate high‑potential investment opportunities and strategic partnerships at the intersection of Tech/AI and Games/Entertainment. Drive development of new opportunities and incubate new businesses. Act as the primary external‑facing representative to bridge Tencent’s internal teams (studios, tech platform) with external innovators and ecosystem players. Monitor and analyze emerging technology and AI trends in gaming and entertainment. Develop and maintain a strategic framework for market analysis and opportunity assessment. Work directly with senior management across global AI and games markets. Support decision‑making for executives and leaders of business groups, providing game‑changing strategy and inspiring out‑of‑the‑box thinking. Plan and manage business incubation, drive product innovation and new partnerships, and develop and execute go‑to‑market plans. Qualifications More than 3 years of work experience in tech investment or strategy consulting, preferably in gaming/entertainment or TMT industries. Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a similar field is a strong plus. Demonstrated strategic vision, business insights and in‑depth knowledge of emerging technologies and market trends (particularly AI applications in gaming). Proficiency in analyzing market data, financial metrics and technology trends to identify promising opportunities in game tech/AI. Self‑starter, capable of navigating ambiguity and driving investment strategies from ideation to execution, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams. Exceptional proficiency with MS Excel & PowerPoint; working knowledge of statistics and analysis packages. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; effective team player. Location State(s): US-California-Palo Alto Compensation and Benefits Base pay range: $100,300.00 to $233,200.00 per year. Eligible for sign‑on payment, relocation package and restricted stock units (determined case‑by‑case). Includes medical, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits, 401(k) participation, up to 15–25 days of vacation per year (varying with tenure), up to 13 days of holidays, and up to 10 days of paid sick leave per year. Benefits may be prorated for hires starting during the calendar year.
