Work Environment

This position is onsite at a school in New York City, providing a dynamic work environment that blends clinical care with educational initiatives. You will work regularly with students, teachers, and families to ensure students receive the healthcare support they require to thrive academically and socially. Your workspace will be equipped with the necessary tools and resources to assess and treat the health needs of children effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health assessments of students, including physical exams, health histories, and screenings.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses within the pediatric population, documenting care in accordance with established protocols.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, closely monitoring student progress and making necessary adjustments.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other healthcare professionals to promote health education, particularly in areas such as nutrition and physical activity.
• Provide immunizations and manage preventive health programs to reduce communicable diseases within the school environment.
• Utilize electronic health records for efficient documentation and to track student health trends and outcomes.
• Coordinate referrals to specialists and community resources when necessary.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role is on students aged 5-18, addressing their unique healthcare needs in an educational setting. Many of the students served may come from underserved backgrounds, requiring a compassionate and culturally competent approach to care. You will be tasked with advocating for these students, promoting their health and wellness, while also creating an inclusive environment for all.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Active state Nursing license for New York.

• A minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience, particularly in community health, pediatrics, or public health settings.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.

Compensation and Benefits
