As a Sous Chef , you will support the Kitchen Manager and staff in preparing and delivering nutritious, high-quality meals for children while ensuring efficient kitchen operations. This role contributes to a safe, compliant, and child-centered food service program aligned with regulatory standards and the mission of providing healthy, developmentally appropriate meals. Our Company Youth In Need has been around since 1974 helping to create safe places for the area's most vulnerable children. We have more than 400 full- and part-time staff who serve more than 8,000 children, teens and families at nearly 100 locations in six counties in Eastern Missouri. Youth In Need has been named a St. Louis Post-Dispatch Top Workplace for seven straight years. We are nationally recognized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as an exemplary program. This Position We are interested in a Sous Chef with a minimum of two years in commercial kitchen management, experience in training others in kitchen management and cooking techniques. Cooking in a childcare setting is preferred. We’re looking for someone with experience cooking for large groups and in a childcare setting. Knowledge of Health and Sanitation Regulations and familiarity with CACFP and related guidelines. Having your ServSafe Certification is a bonus and is required within 30 days of hire. Ability to be CPR certified and First Aid certified required. Driver’s license is required, local travel required, and must be insurable under Youth In Need auto liability coverage.
