Department Bio - The Department of Campus Recreation aims to provide fun, inclusive, and engaging recreational programming and facilities for the university's diverse community in the areas of intramural and sport clubs, fitness and wellness instruction and informal recreational opportunities.

Position Specific Summary - Fitness attendants for Campus Recreation serve in an operational role where they are responsible for the overall safety, cleanliness, providing customer service and oversight of the fitness floor spaces in the Lerner Health and Wellness Center. General responsibilities include:

Provide welcoming, knowledgeable, and inclusive service to the GW community

Serve as an attendant at the recreation desk stations to maintain the health and safety standards of the facility, particularly upkeeping the cleanliness and order of fitness spaces, equipment, and studios.

Know, follow, and enforce Campus Recreation policies and procedures.

Attend meetings and continuous training opportunities as provided. Attendance at All Staff Training on 8/23 is mandatory.

Standard Position Description - The student will assist with the administrative, maintenance, and customer service functions for university spaces and buildings. Tasks may include: assisting visitors, students, and staff with access to university spaces, maintenance of buildings, coordinating and answering customer service requests. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental.

Required Qualifications - This is an entry level position, little to no experience required, all training will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications - This position is focused on cleaning, restocking weights, and enforcement of policies therefore we are looking for candidates with a background in customer service. Candidates who have a background in following health & safety codes and are willing and able to deep clean equipment are preferred.
