Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician Assistant to join our surgical center team in Freeport, New York. This full-time position is integral to delivering high-quality medical care within our dynamic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive medical consultations, perform therapeutic procedures under the supervision of a physician, and play a key role in patient education, treatment, and follow-up efforts. You will leverage a collaborative, multidisciplinary team approach to ensure continuity of care throughout the patient journey. The work hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage patients’ overall health and well-being, ensuring they receive comprehensive assessments and care plans.
• Conduct thorough physical examinations and meticulously review patients' medical histories to inform diagnostics.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including blood tests, X-rays, and additional imaging as necessary.
• Stay abreast of advancements in primary care by engaging in continuous research and professional development activities.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans for patients with chronic and infectious diseases, ensuring optimal health outcomes.
• Prescribe medications as appropriate and monitor patients’ responses to treatment, adjusting plans as needed.
• Diagnose and treat a spectrum of health conditions that fall within the scope of family medicine, collaborating closely with the supervising physician.
• Promote preventative measures and healthy lifestyle practices among patients, providing education on nutrition, exercise, and wellness.
• Maintain organized and accurate patient records, keeping schedules and documentation current and compliant with regulations.
• Educate patients and their families on health-related topics, including disease management and preventive care strategies.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position boasts a diverse patient population, ranging from pediatric to geriatric patients. Each day, you will engage with individuals requiring a range of services from routine check-ups to more complex, urgent care interventions. You will be expected to handle various health issues compassionately and effectively, adapting your communication style to meet the unique needs of each patient and their family.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited program.
• Current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Valid state licensure as a Physician Assistant in New York.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Physician Assistant in a family health clinic or a similar medical setting.
• Specialization or demonstrable expertise in family medicine is highly desirable.

Preferred Experience

• Extensive clinical experience in primary care settings, with a focus on family health.
• Strong understanding of health regulations and patient care management.
• Proficiency in utilizing electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to facilitate effective patient interaction.
• Possession of a valid DEA number to prescribe controlled substances.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of USD 150,000 to 180,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
