Work Environment

As a Physician Assistant at our Surgical Center, you will be working onsite in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Your typical work week will consist of dedicated hours from Monday to Friday, with a structured schedule featuring a 5:00 PM shift, ensuring a balanced work-life approach. This position requires a commitment to maintaining patient rapport and delivering care in a respectful and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and evaluate patients’ medical histories to inform treatment decisions.
• Order, perform, and analyze diagnostic tests such as blood work and imaging studies to accurately assess patient conditions.
• Diagnose and formulate treatment plans for a variety of acute and chronic health issues, focusing predominantly on family medicine.
• Prescribe medications, monitor patient responses to treatments, and adjust care plans as necessary to optimize outcomes.
• Maintain meticulous and organized patient records to ensure continuity of care and efficient management of schedules.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding disease prevention, management strategies, and promoting healthy lifestyles.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maximize patient care effectiveness, including conducting daily rounds and facilitating transitions of care.
• Stay current with advancements in primary care through active participation in professional development opportunities.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Physician Assistant will primarily oversee a diverse patient population at our Surgical Center, treating individuals across various demographics and health backgrounds. You will engage with patients who are undergoing surgical procedures and provide pre- and post-operative care, facilitating a smooth healthcare journey and offering emotional support throughout their treatment experience.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited program is required.
• Current certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Valid state license to practice as a Physician Assistant in New York.
• A DEA number is required for prescribing controlled substances.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in a family health clinic or similar healthcare environment, particularly in a surgical context.
• Proven clinical proficiency in family medicine, emphasizing strong diagnostic skills.
• Previous involvement in patient education initiatives and familiarity with patient-centered care models.

Compensation and Benefits
