Bookkeeper

LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a reputable company. We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support day-to-day accounting operations. This role will be responsible for payroll processing, accounts payable and receivable, banking activities, and contract administration. The ideal candidate is highly organized, accurate, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Bookkeeper (Payroll / Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable / Banking) Cranbury, NJ (Fully Onsite – 5 days/week) Key Responsibilities Payroll Process weekly payroll for multiple employee groups (~50 employees total) Validate timesheets, ensure accurate entry, and resolve discrepancies Prepare direct deposit files and submit through banking systems Issue checks and distribute paystubs as needed Handle payroll tax reporting and filings (state, federal, 401k) Generate payroll reports and reconcile data with general ledger Prepare quarterly payroll tax reports Accounts Payable Enter and process vendor invoices Manage online payments and ACH transactions Maintain vendor records and onboarding documentation (W-9s, ACH forms) Coordinate with vendors to resolve discrepancies Assist with year-end reporting, including 1099 compliance Accounts Receivable Apply incoming payments and reconcile customer accounts Track outstanding balances and assist with collections efforts Monitor daily banking activity, including deposits and payments Upload and manage positive pay files Review and approve pay exceptions Perform monthly bank reconciliations for operating and payroll accounts Contract Administration Enter subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and contract data Maintain documentation and support project managers with updates Track change orders and insurance certificates Ensure accuracy and compliance of contract records Office & Administrative Support Manage office supplies and inventory Assist with incoming calls and route appropriately Handle mail processing and general administrative duties Qualifications 7–10+ years of bookkeeping or full-charge accounting experience Strong experience with payroll, AP/AR, and bank reconciliations Experience with accounting systems (Sage 300 CRE strongly preferred) Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365, especially Excel Experience in construction or related industries is a plus High attention to detail with strong organizational skills Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable: The California Fair Chance Act Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance This posting is a representative sample of the types of roles we typically place with our clients.
