VP of Accounting

This is a unique opportunity to build and scale the accounting and financial reporting infrastructure for a rapidly growing renewable energy platform. As SolSource continues to expand its residential solar and energy storage business, the Corporate Controller / VP Accounting will serve as a key member of the leadership team, partnering directly with the CEO and executive stakeholders to support strategic growth initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to establish scalable accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, enhance financial reporting capabilities, and lead audit and compliance functions across the organization. The successful candidate will play a critical role in building the financial foundation necessary to support future growth, acquisitions, capital markets activities, and long-term enterprise value creation. About the Role SolSource is seeking a hands-on Corporate Controller / VP Accounting to lead the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance functions. Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Company's financial information while building scalable processes and infrastructure to support continued growth. This role requires a combination of technical accounting expertise, operational leadership, and strategic business partnership. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong business acumen, and have a demonstrated ability to improve processes, lead teams, and provide financial insight that supports executive decision-making. As the organization evolves, this leader will play an instrumental role in developing the accounting function and helping position SolSource for future expansion and capital market opportunities. What You Will Own Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and cash management. Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process. Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Develop, document, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies. Manage annual audits and coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities in partnership with Finance. Oversee treasury and cash flow reporting activities. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements. Evaluate and implement process improvements, automation initiatives, and accounting system enhancements. Build and develop the accounting team as the organization scales. Success Metrics Consistently achieve accurate and timely monthly financial closes. Maintain clean audit opinions and strong compliance performance. Improve accounting process efficiency and reporting accuracy. Develop scalable internal controls and accounting policies. Deliver reliable financial information to support executive decision-making. Successfully support company growth, acquisitions, and financing initiatives. Required Experience 10+ years of progressive accounting experience. Minimum 5 years in an accounting leadership role. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA designation strongly preferred. Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Experience managing audits and external accounting relationships. Demonstrated success building and improving accounting processes and controls. Strong ERP and financial systems experience. Preferred Background Renewable energy, solar, energy storage, construction, or project-based industry experience. Experience supporting private equity-backed or high-growth companies. Experience with multi-entity accounting structures. Familiarity with tax credit accounting, project finance structures, or renewable energy investment vehicles. Experience implementing ERP or accounting system upgrades. Organizational Context You will partner closely with the CEO and executive leadership, Finance and FP&A, Human Resources and Payroll, Legal and Compliance, Operations and Project Teams, and external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and investors. This role will initially operate within a lean and highly collaborative environment, with the opportunity to build and expand the accounting function as SolSource continues to scale.
