Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments tailored specifically for the elderly, addressing their unique psychological and social needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that take into account both cognitive and physical health changes, as well as relevant social factors.
• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual therapy, family therapy, and psychoeducational sessions aimed at addressing various geriatric psychiatric conditions.
• Work collaboratively with geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated and holistic care for patients.
• Provide crisis intervention support, responding promptly to mental health emergencies impacting elderly patients.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health concerns, therapeutic options, and community resources available to support their well-being.
• Maintain detailed and confidential documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards, ensuring accurate tracking of patient progress and treatment effectiveness.
• Participate actively in team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing professional development, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
• Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in geriatric psychiatry to enhance patient care approaches.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role will be on the geriatric population, addressing common mental health concerns that significantly affect their quality of life. You will engage with older adults grappling with conditions such as depression, anxiety, and dementia-related disorders, alongside family members and caregivers, ensuring they receive comprehensive support.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in the state of California.
• A minimum of two (2) years of post-licensure experience is preferred, particularly in geriatric or mental health settings.
• In-depth knowledge of geriatric mental health disorders and evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a deep commitment to patient-centered care.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and various computer applications necessary for documentation and patient management.

Preferred Experience

• Experience providing individual and family therapy specifically to older adults.
• Demonstrated ability to establish strong rapport and trust with elderly patients and their families, facilitating a supportive therapeutic environment.
• Familiarity with community resources and support networks beneficial for geriatric patients.

Compensation and Benefits
