Vera's Family and Children Wellness Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child and Adolescent Mental Health Counselor to join our outpatient psychiatry team in Southampton, New York. This full-time position allows you to work remotely while making a significant impact on the mental health and well-being of young individuals and their families. You will be responsible for providing specialized counseling services addressing diverse mental health challenges in children and adolescents.

Work Environment\n

Working with us offers the flexibility of a remote work environment alongside a supportive team of mental health professionals, including child psychiatrists and youth counselors. Our normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts to accommodate patient schedules. Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments to appropriately gauge the needs and concerns of children and adolescents, employing supportive techniques that help establish rapport.

• Develop and implement tailored treatment plans that consider individual developmental stages, family dynamics, and cultural backgrounds to ensure holistic care.

• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and play therapy, aimed particularly at treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral challenges.

• Facilitate family therapy sessions designed to empower parents and caregivers, helping them create nurturing home environments and addressing inter-family dynamics affecting the child's well-being.

• Collaborate closely with child psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals, ensuring coordinated and comprehensive care for all patients.
\n
• Provide crisis intervention and support for young individuals experiencing acute mental health emergencies, guiding them and their families to stabilize situations effectively.
\n
• Educate patients and their families about mental health issues, available treatment options, and local community resources to promote informed decision-making.
\n
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in alignment with ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
\n
• Actively participate in team case consultations and professional development sessions, contributing insights and strategies to improve our service delivery.

• Stay up-to-date with the latest research, best practices, and emerging treatment modalities pertaining to child and adolescent mental health.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role focuses on working with children and adolescents facing various mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other behavioral issues. Our patient demographic spans diverse backgrounds and presents a wide array of challenges, making your role vital in delivering tailored interventions and support.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• A current and valid professional license (LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT) in the state of New York is required.
\n
• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in mental health counseling, particularly with children and adolescents preferred.
\n
• Strong understanding of child and adolescent mental health disorders and evidence-based therapeutic practices.
\n
• Proficient interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
\n
• Ability to build trusting relationships with young patients and their families, fostering an environment conducive to mental health recovery.
\n
• Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and other relevant technological tools to manage documentation and care plans effectively.

• Team player with proven capacity for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams for enhanced patient outcomes.

Preferred Experience\n

While a minimum of two years is required, candidates with additional experience in therapy settings specifically focused on child and adolescent populations, as well as familiarity with community mental health resources, are highly valued. Experience in crisis intervention and management of acute mental health situations is also a strong plus.

Compensation and Benefits\n
