Job Title Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room – Valley Park, Missouri Job Overview Specialty: OR – Operating Room Discipline: RN Duration: Ongoing Employment Type: Staff Location: Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University Medical Center, Valley Park, Missouri. Shift Schedule Nights 3–12 hour shifts Monday–Friday, 18:30–07:00 No call coverage No weekend shifts 1–2 yearly holidays Responsibilities Provide direct patient care including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with nursing standards. Promote patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educate patients and families on illness management, post‑treatment home care, and medication administration. Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Participate in professional development activities. Develop, implement, and document individual care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patients, families, and caregivers. Proactively plan and communicate the care plan across the continuum of care. Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs per standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs. Maintain alertness and work safely in a constant state of alertness as required for a safety‑sensitive position. Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Licensure: Current RN license. No prior experience required. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Less than 2 years of experience.
