Director of Sales Marketing

An established full service hotel in Woburn, ideally located near Boston and several major corporate markets, is seeking an accomplished Director of Sales and Marketing to lead its sales team and drive the property’s next stage of growth. Supported by an experienced hospitality organization, this visible leadership role offers the opportunity to expand corporate, group, meeting, event, and leisure business, strengthen the hotel’s market presence and key client relationships, and work alongside the General Manager and operational leaders to deliver an outstanding guest experience. OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE Develop forward looking hotel sales and marketing plans that respond to market trends, attract business and leisure guests, and support the financial goals established by the General Manager and ownership. Improve sales and marketing team effectiveness by defining markets and goals, providing the skills and tools needed for success, and proactively addressing performance shortfalls. Ensure the promises made during the sales process are supported by hotel operations and delivered through the overall guest experience. Build a capable sales team with the vision, skills, and tools needed to succeed. RESPONSIBILITIES Run the sales and marketing department and manage its team of hotel sales professionals. Define each salesperson’s role, assigned market, and goals, and ensure that required results are achieved. Monitor market trends and use creative, strategic approaches to attract business and leisure guests. Maintain a visible presence throughout the hotel and recognize the contributions of front desk, housekeeping, kitchen, and other employees to the guest experience. Represent the hotel through active community involvement and participation in giving back. Serve as Manager on Duty when requested. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS At least five years of progressive hotel sales experience is required. Previous hotel sales leadership experience at the Director level or as a Sales Manager for a large hotel is required. Previous supervisory experience managing sales professionals is required. The ability to work with hotel sales software is required. Verbal and written English proficiency is required. The ability to handle difficult situations and people professionally and evaluate alternative courses of action quickly and accurately is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience as a hotel Director of Sales and Marketing is strongly preferred. Hotel sales experience with Hilton is strongly preferred. Experience using Delphi hotel sales software is preferred. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This is an in person position in Woburn, Massachusetts. Travel to clients and meetings is essential. The position requires the ability to work long hours. Physical requirements include exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. The position requires working under variable temperatures and noise levels, seeing details, bending, stretching, twisting, reaching, and walking or standing for extended periods. #J-18808-Ljbffr
