Payroll Specialist

Position Summary The Rapid Group is seeking a detail‑oriented and dependable Payroll Specialist to join our team at our headquarters in Paterson, NJ. This full‑time, onsite role is responsible for processing payroll accurately and efficiently while supporting compliance with company policies and applicable labor regulations. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with multiple payroll deadlines and employee groups. Key Responsibilities Process weekly and biweekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees Review timesheets, earnings, deductions, and payroll adjustments for accuracy Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data integrity Coordinate with HR and management regarding payroll changes, new hires, terminations, and benefits deductions Assist with payroll reporting, audits, and reconciliations Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations Respond to employee payroll questions in a timely and professional manner Support year‑end payroll activities including W2 preparation and reporting Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information Qualifications 2 to 3 years of experience in payroll processing required Experience using Paychex is strongly preferred Understanding of prevailing wage labor laws and certified payroll requirements in New Jersey and New York is encouraged, but not required Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Strong communication and problem‑solving abilities Equivalent payroll experience will also be considered Education Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred Benefits 401(k) retirement plan Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance Supportive team environment Paid Time Off (PTO) and Sick Time Opportunity to grow within a dynamic service organization Work Conditions / Schedule Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Location: Paterson, NJ (Onsite) Subsidiary: Machinery Services Co Fast paced, team‑oriented, customer‑focused industrial environment EEO Statement The Rapid Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
