Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)
Compensation: $50,000 – $65,000 base
About the Firm
Boutique plaintiff-side personal injury law firm in Chicago is seeking a Legal Assistant to support attorneys in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. This firm offers a collaborative, team-oriented culture with hands-on exposure to all stages of litigation.
Position Overview
The Legal Assistant will provide day-to-day litigation and administrative support to attorneys handling personal injury matters. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain active case files from intake through resolution
- Draft, edit, and finalize legal documents including pleadings, discovery, and correspondence
- Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, mediations, client meetings, and court appearances
- File documents in state and federal courts (e-filing) and maintain docket/calendar deadlines
- Communicate regularly with clients, medical providers, and opposing counsel
- Assist with medical records and bill requests, organization, and tracking
- Prepare case materials including demand packages, exhibits, and trial binders
- Track deadlines, court orders, and follow-ups to ensure timely case progression
- Support attorneys with trial preparation and general case management
Qualifications
- 1–3+ years of legal assistant experience, preferably within personal injury or litigation
- Strong knowledge of litigation procedures and court filing processes
- Experience managing deadlines and high-volume caseloads
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
- Professional, proactive, and client-service oriented
Additional Information:
Personal Time Off (PTO) is offered on an accrual basis up to 184 hours a year, 13 Paid Holidays, and up to 6 weeks of Paid Parental Leave. PTO and holiday hours are prorated based on hire date within the calendar year.
