ER RN

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) provides skilled nursing care to patients in the emergency department. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to deliver individualized care. The ER RN utilizes critical thinking to ensure patient safety and quality care, participates in performance improvement activities, and supports professional nursing standards in a fast-paced environment. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and either TNCC or TNS. Responsibilities:

• Utilize the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members in patient care.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments following nursing techniques, policies, procedures, standards of care, and state laws.
• Document patient care accurately according to standards of care.
• Perform patient assessments, planning, interventions, and evaluation of care.
• Develop, initiate, and execute individualized patient care plans including patient and family instruction.
• Participate in department or unit performance improvement and shared governance activities.
• Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units or departments supporting patient care plans.
• Apply critical thinking to patient safety and experience, escalating issues appropriately.
• Engage in professional nursing development, unit practice decisions, and peer review processes.

• Active Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or TNS (Trauma Nurse Specialist) certification.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced emergency room environment.

• Experience in emergency nursing or critical care settings.
• Participation in nursing professional development and shared governance.

• Mid-shift hours with weekend rotation required.
• Work in an emergency room setting requiring rapid decision-making and critical thinking.

• 36 hours per week on mid-shifts.
• Shift assignments include weekend rotations.
