Hands On Portland
Be An Ambassador For The Arts! (age 18+) Referral Spread the good word about NW Dance Project in your community! About the Program NW Dance Project is dedicated to its mission to provide a training center of outstanding quality and bring together local, national, and international artists. Support and develop contemporary dance creation by providing a laboratory for established and emerging choreographers to work, research and experiment with complete freedom to make what they want to make. Serve the community by providing unique and meaningful arts programs and youth education programs, thereby making Portland a destination for dance artists and dance audiences. Build, inspire, entertain and nurture audiences for dance while engaging and deepening public appreciation and support of dance. About the Project Are you an out-going individual seeking an opportunity to contribute to the performing arts community in Portland? If so, this opportunity may be perfect for you! We are looking for a team of dedicated volunteers to support us through our 2026/27 Season by distributing posters, fliers, and postcards around Portland and Multnomah County to promote our Educational Programs and Company Performances. WHEN There are 5 rounds of postering throughout the season. Volunteers will be given a two week window to distribute 30 - 40 posters/postcards/fliers. Volunteers will pick up their materials from our studio (211 NE 10th Ave Portland OR 97232) at the beginning of the two week postering window. Round 1 - JUN 1 to JUN 15 / 2026 Round 2 - SEP 1 to SEP 15 / 2026 Round 3 - NOV 2 to NOV 16 / 2026 Round 4 - JAN 18 to FEB 1 / 2027 Round 5 - MAR 15 to MAR 29 / 2027 Volunteers are usually able to distribute all of their materials in one or two shifts of 2-3 hours, totaling at roughly 4-6 hours of work. If you are unable to do every round but are able to do 3 or more, please still reach out to express your interest and let us know what your limitations are.
WHERE
I have route lists built in many areas around Portland and Multnomah County! We are constantly updating our routes and trying to make them even more convenient and fluid for our volunteers. I can coordinate with your limitations and preferences to choose the route that is right for you.PERKS
Volunteers will be awarded TWO complimentary tickets to every performance!WHY THIS MATTERS
Appreciation for live performing arts like theatre and dance is dwindling in our society as people turn to digital entertainment. Dance organizations are seeing the effect in audience numbers and funding. This art form needs advocates; dance brings people together to be moved and feel something in community, away from screens, and back into our bodies to be present with one another. Project Requirements Project Requirements Age: Volunteers must be 18+ It is helpful to have a car for this but not REQUIRED. Some routes are all on one street and can be done on foot! Notices Referral Opportunity: This opportunity is run directly by one of our nonprofit partners. After you express interest, the partner will contact you with next steps and confirmation details. Hands On Greater Portland Hours: Your hours may not appear in your Hands On account because this is a partner-managed opportunity. After expressing interest, the Opportunity Leader will contact you to confirm participation and provide directions for this opportunity. Stay connected!
