Work Environment

This position is based onsite within a local school, allowing you to directly engage with students, staff, and families. You will be an integral part of the school community, working closely with educators and school administrators to promote health awareness and foster a supportive environment for students. The typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, providing a consistent routine that supports work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough health assessments and physical examinations for students, establishing accurate diagnoses and formulating effective treatment plans.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies, to inform patient care decisions.
• Prescribe medications and perform necessary therapeutic procedures tailored to the needs of the patient.
• Engage with students and parents through educational counseling, providing insights on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of existing conditions.
• Collaborate actively with interdisciplinary team members, which may include school nurses, teachers, and social workers, to coordinate holistic care for students.
• Maintain thorough and compliant medical records, adhering to regulatory standards and best practices to ensure continuity of care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on students ranging from kindergarten through high school, addressing various health issues from acute illnesses to chronic conditions. You will help manage issues such as asthma, anxiety, and preventative care—all integral to supporting students’ academic and personal success. Understanding the unique challenges faced by school-aged children, you will work proactively to implement wellness programs that promote mental and physical health.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of New York.
• Certification in a recognized Nurse Practitioner specialty area.
• Exceptional clinical assessment skills, with demonstrated ability to diagnose and manage a range of health conditions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills that allow effective interaction with both students and parents.
• Proven ability to thrive in collaborative, fast-paced healthcare settings, demonstrating adaptability and responsiveness.

Preferred Experience

• At least two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably in a pediatric or school-based environment.
• Experience working with diverse populations, understanding the cultural and socioeconomic factors affecting student health.
• Background in counseling or educational health initiatives is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from USD 150,000 to 160,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
