Key Responsibilities

• Direct physical therapy treatment focused on preventing disabilities, alleviating pain, enhancing muscle function, and optimizing performance as defined by individualized care plans.
• Oversee the contributions of physical therapy assistants to ensure effective implementation of treatment plans in alignment with patient goals.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients' functional levels through diagnostic and prognostic assessments, including muscle, nerve, joint, and functional tests.
• Assess patients' home environments, recommending modifications and adaptations to enhance their rehabilitation and foster greater independence.
• Deliver prescribed physical therapy services in accordance with physician directives, ensuring compliance with clinical standards and best practices.
• Administer therapeutic exercises and assist clients with non-manual activities, providing motivation and support throughout their rehabilitation journey.
• Implement traction, massage, and treatments incorporating physical agents as part of a holistic therapy strategy.
• Evaluate, fit, and adjust orthotic and prosthetic devices, advising physicians on necessary modifications when needed.
• Contribute to care plan development, consistently reviewing and updating plans to reflect the patient's evolving needs.
• Document clinical records meticulously, including initial evaluations, care plans, and ongoing progress notes, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to contribute to comprehensive treatment strategies and insights into patient progress.
• Instruct clients and their families on the use of therapeutic devices and overall physical therapy programs, emphasizing safety and effectiveness.
• Support Physical Therapy Assistants in executing treatment plans while providing supervision as mandated by state regulations.
• Conduct on-site functional assessments to validate the effectiveness of current plans and facilitate the utilization of community resources.
• Engage collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, ensuring a comprehensive approach toward patient outcomes.
