Position Summary

The Managing Director, Healthcare Strategy and Strategic Partnerships is responsible for advancing enterprise healthcare strategies, cross-functional integration, public-private partnerships, innovation initiatives, and government/public-sector relationships. This role serves as a strategic advisor and connector across executive leadership, internal teams, healthcare partners, technology vendors, state agencies, coalitions, and external stakeholders to ensure that new programs, partnerships, and innovation priorities are thoughtfully designed, implemented, measured, and scaled.

Responsibilities

Healthcare Business Development, Partnerships & Innovation

• Develop, execute and support healthcare strategies across programs, partnerships, products, and (services) with emphasis on innovation, public and private sector alignment, and scalable implementation.
• Identify strategic partnership opportunities, healthcare trends, policy priorities, and areas where NJII can advance innovation, operational alignment, and statewide healthcare transformation.
• Build and maintain relationships with healthcare organizations, providers, payers, vendors, state agencies, associations, and community partners.
• Support the development of strategic briefs, proposals, executive presentations, partnership models, implementation plans, and business cases for new healthcare initiatives.
• Monitor the healthcare ecosystem, policy landscape, funding environment, and innovation market to recommend strategies that strengthen NJII’s role as a statewide healthcare innovation partner.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to shape innovation concepts in areas such as digital health, AI-enabled care models, health information exchange, value-based care, care coordination, rural/community health, mental health and aging services.
• Oversee Marketing activities, support conferences, events, etc. where NJII is networking and building/expanding our brand.

Strategic Integration

• Work closely with executive leadership to align strategic initiatives with organizational objectives, public-sector priorities, compliance requirements, partner needs, and operational capacity.
• Create project plans, timelines, milestones, and accountability structures to ensure successful execution.
• Identify gaps, risks, dependencies, policy considerations, funding opportunities, and operational improvement opportunities during implementation.
• The Aging Collaborative has been established, and oversee the growth of that initiative, membership for providers and vendors via our platform.
• Develop strategic roadmaps, implementation plans, timelines, milestones, and accountability structures to support effective execution and measurable results.

Government Support

• Advance relationships with state agencies, public / private-sector stakeholders, healthcare coalitions, associations, and legislative/governmental partners.
• Support public-private partnership development, stakeholder convenings, policy discussions, and statewide healthcare innovation priorities
• Represent healthcare strategy and innovation priorities in external meetings, coalitions, and partner discussions as appropriate.

Data, Reporting & Performance

• Prepare reports, updates, and presentations for executive leadership, boards, and stakeholders.
• Use data and market intelligence to inform recommendations and decision-making.
• Track key performance indicators related to strategic initiatives, partnership outcomes, innovation pilots, implementation progress, public-sector impact, and operational performance.
• Evaluate the success of strategic initiatives and recommend adjustments to strengthen impact, sustainability, partnership alignment, and scalability.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, public health, or a related field preferred.

Experience

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare strategy, integration, operations, or innovation.

Demonstrated experience working with executive leadership, boards, and governmental stakeholders.

Strong understanding of healthcare ecosystems, value-based care, and digital health transformation.

Proven ability to execute complex cross-functional initiatives.

Exceptional communication, policy analysis, and relationship-management skills.

Experience with healthcare technology, health information exchange, provider networks, aging services, value-based care, care coordination, or healthcare associations.

Experience developing strategic partnerships or vendor marketplace models.

Experience working with state agencies, healthcare coalitions, nonprofit healthcare organizations, or member-based organizations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of the healthcare ecosystem, including providers, payers, technology vendors, regulatory issues, and healthcare delivery trends.

Proven ability to lead complex projects from concept through implementation.

Excellent relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.

Experience working with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.

Salary Information: In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency law, the annual salary range for this position is $175,000.00 to $200,000.00 (USD). NJII considers factors like, but not limited to, job scope, experience, education, skills, internal equity, and market conditions when making offers. This pay range covers base pay only and excludes bonuses or other incentives.

NJII provides a comprehensive package of benefits to their full-time employees which includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) with Employer Match, FSA and HSA. We also provide Company Paid Group Term Life Insurance, AD&D and LTD. In addition, we offer a hybrid work model with an expectation for this role to work a minimum of 2 days weekly onsite at our Newark, NJ office.
