Position Overview Position title: Psychiatry Clinical Faculty Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $93,700 - $246,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position Description The Department of Psychiatry within the School of Medicine at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body. UC San Diego Psychiatry faculty provide exceptional clinical care, cutting‑edge research, and educational excellence. We seek outstanding applicants for non‑tenured/non‑tenure track General, Geriatric, Child & Adolescent, and Subspecialty Psychiatry faculty positions with clinician‑educator or clinician‑scholar interests. The selected candidates’ clinical focus will be aligned with one or more areas of clinical expertise in the department, including, but not limited to, board specialization in general adult, geriatrics, child and adolescent, consult‑liaison, and addiction psychiatry, as well as other specialty programs such as eating disorders, community or public sector psychiatry, college mental health, women’s mental health, neuromodulation, and post‑traumatic stress. In addition, the selected candidates’ clinical setting may include inpatient and outpatient, including intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs. The selected candidates will also teach, which may include lecturing and mentoring in our various educational programs; embrace a culture of excellence and innovation; and have an interest in clinical scholarship within the Department and/or research. The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application) MD, DO, PsyD, PhD, or equivalent in the areas of neuropsychiatric disorders. MD, DO, or equivalent must be board eligible or board certified in General Adult, Geriatric, Child and Adolescent, Consult‑Liaison, or Addiction Psychiatry. MD, DO, or equivalent must have, or be eligible for, a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board, and must maintain or be eligible to obtain an unrestricted Department of Justice (DEA) number to practice in the U.S. PsyD, PhD, or equivalent must have graduated from an APA‑accredited doctoral program, which includes completion of an APA‑accredited internship, and must have or be eligible for a license from the California Board of Psychology.
