Work Environment

This position is onsite within school facilities in Houston, Texas, offering a dynamic and collaborative environment where the needs of students are paramount. Regular business hours are maintained from 9 am to 5 pm, allowing for a stable work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and evaluations to diagnose mental health conditions among students.
• Manage medication regimens, ensuring ongoing evaluation and adjustment as necessary to monitor treatment effectiveness.
• Collaborate with educational staff and primary care providers to deliver an integrated approach to patient care.
• Provide immediate crisis intervention and emotional support during times of behavioral or emotional distress.
• Engage in community outreach initiatives and educational programs to foster mental health awareness in schools.
• Deliver therapeutic support through individualized counseling sessions and psychoeducation tailored to the student population.
• Maintain precise and confidential patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring data integrity and patient privacy.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role is to serve children and adolescents in a school environment, addressing their unique mental health challenges and facilitating their emotional growth. You will work with a diverse patient population, promoting mental wellness and resilience among young individuals who may be facing trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing with specialization as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
• Active state licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with a specialization in psychiatry.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, facilitating positive interactions with students, families, and colleagues.
• A commitment to continued education in mental health practices and cultural competence.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience working in a community health center or educational setting is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices and behavioral health integration.

Compensation and Benefits
