The Insightful Mind Health Clinic is seeking a dedicated full-time Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our team in Houston, Texas. Work Environment

This position is based onsite within a local school, allowing you to work directly with students and school personnel in a dynamic educational environment. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and comprehensive assessments to accurately diagnose mental health disorders.
• Design and implement individualized treatment plans that incorporate evidence-based practices, tailored to the unique needs of each student.
• Prescribe appropriate psychotropic medications, closely monitoring effectiveness and making necessary adjustments based on student feedback and side effects.
• Provide psychotherapy services utilizing various therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT).
• Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, and parents to coordinate care and to support children’s emotional health within their school environment.
• Educate students and their families about mental health issues, treatment options, and self-management strategies that foster resilience.
• Document patient progress meticulously, tracking responses to treatment and recommending revisions to care plans as necessary.
• Engage in regular team meetings to discuss casework, share insights, and enhance care delivery strategies.
• Ensure compliance with legal and ethical guidelines, maintaining patient confidentiality and following all regulations pertinent to school-based health services.
• Utilize electronic health records (EHR) to maintain and update patient information while ensuring seamless information flow across care platforms.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on school-aged children and adolescents who experience a range of mental health challenges. This role is critical in addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, behavioral disorders, and other mental health concerns within the academic setting. You will work closely with individuals who often face significant external pressures and family dynamics, reinforcing the importance of empathy and understanding in your interactions.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
• Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Texas.
• Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
• Demonstrated clinical experience in psychiatric and mental health care settings.
• Strong knowledge base in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment methodologies specific to children and adolescents.

Preferred Experience

Experience in a school-based setting or with pediatric populations is preferred. Familiarity with local community resources and the ability to engage effectively with students, teachers, and parents is also advantageous.
