Job Summary

Registered Nurse, Medical-Surgical With Telemetry, Madison, WI. The role provides evidence-based nursing care to adult patients across medical-surgical and intermediate care units. Responsibilities include assessing patients, recognizing and escalating complications, administering nursing interventions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary care teams.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Wisconsin or compact Registered Nurse license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA); two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the submitted specialty; travel experience; experience with multiple medical-surgical units, including cardiac, spine, and neuro; experience with basic arrhythmia interpretation, cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia management, telemetry monitoring, cardiac catheterization care, chest tubes, feeding tubes, heparin protocols, insulin protocols, intravenous therapy, surgical drains, tracheostomy care, wound care, and related medical-surgical and neurological care; required experience with the Epic charting system.
• Preferred Qualifications: Level I or Level II trauma experience.
• Schedule: Day shifts consisting of 12-hour shifts from 0700 to 1930, with 36 hours per week; every other weekend and holidays as applicable to operations.
• Additional Information: Provides care to adult patients in general medical-surgical and intermediate care units. The role requires critical thinking, patient assessment, recognition and escalation of complications, appropriate nursing interventions, patient- and family-centered care, effective delegation, and collaboration with nursing, therapy, medical, and other multidisciplinary teams. A telemetry examination is required before the assignment begins, with strict passing criteria for lethal rhythm identification, heart block recognition, and related cardiac rhythm interpretation.
