Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/28/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Neurosurgery / Medical-Surgical Telemetry – Wisconsin Start Date: August 31, 2026 (flexible start options available) Location: Madison, Wisconsin Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday with weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed Highlights: Join a fast-paced, 25-bed neurosurgery general care unit specializing in both medical and surgical neuro patients Work with diverse patient populations including post-operative spine surgeries, brain tumors, craniotomy, stroke patients, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Guillain-Barre syndrome, and traumatic brain injuries Collaborative interdisciplinary team support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams 4:1 patient ratio with 24 hours of comprehensive orientation Epic charting system utilized throughout the facility Part of a Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Program and a Magnet-designated teaching institution Requirements: Active RN license (Wisconsin or compact state license accepted) Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in Neuro Medical-Surgical/Telemetry within the last 3 years Epic EMR experience required BLS certification required (American Heart Association only) Must successfully pass telemetry examination prior to start date with strict passing criteria including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and 80% overall passing score Trauma Level I experience preferred Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only) Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility Clinical Skills and Competencies: Experience with telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, IV therapy, BiPAP/CPAP management, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, pre/post neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury management, stroke care, wound care/wound vac, feeding tube management, and use of rapid response/code teams.
