Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health evaluations and assessments for clients in correctional facilities, identifying urgent needs and creating appropriate treatment plans.

• Provide crisis intervention services to clients experiencing acute mental health issues, ensuring immediate and effective responses to their conditions.

• Monitor patient progress through regular follow-up sessions and refine treatment plans as necessary.
\n
• Collaborate with the Department of Correction to ensure patients have access to necessary services, such as medication management, therapy, and support.
\n
• Complete and maintain accurate statistical reports detailing patient care activities and treatment outcomes.
\n
• Facilitate group therapy sessions to promote communal support and shared experiences among clients, enhancing their recovery journey.
\n
• Document all client interactions and interventions in compliance with legal and organizational standards for patient care.
\n
• Engage in weekly clinical supervision meetings with the Clinical Supervisor to discuss complex cases and receive guidance aimed at enhancing professional skills.

• Participate actively in interdisciplinary case conferences and contribute to treatment planning discussions for individuals receiving mental health interventions.
\n
• Supervise social work interns or trainees as assigned, providing mentorship and fostering their professional development in mental health counseling.

• Perform additional duties as needed at the direction of the Unit Chief or Assistant Unit Chief.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The primary population served includes incarcerated individuals who face a variety of mental health challenges, including behavioral disorders, substance use issues, and severe mental illnesses. Counselors will be tasked with developing individualized care plans that address the unique circumstances and treatment goals of each client. Providing support to this demographic requires empathy, cultural competency, and an understanding of the complexities involved in correctional health services.

Qualifications\n

• A valid and active license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of California.

• A Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field from an accredited institution.

• Five years of post-licensure experience providing direct client care in behavioral health settings, ensuring strong clinical skills and knowledge.

• Experience in conducting assessments and therapeutic sessions specifically with individuals who have behavioral issues, substance abuse histories, and co-occurring disorders.

• Prior work experience in inpatient settings or positions liaising with correctional facilities is highly favored.

Compensation and Benefits\n
