Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct initial interviews and gather comprehensive mental health histories, ensuring accurate documentation from the first consultation through treatment completion.

• Evaluate clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral health through structured assessments and observation, adjusting strategies as necessary based on ongoing feedback.

• Develop tailored intervention and recovery plans for individuals, couples, families, and groups, emphasizing evidence-based approaches that align with client needs.

• Facilitate engaging and therapeutic individual and group therapy sessions using various modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

• Monitor client progress regularly, adapting treatment plans to reflect changes and ensuring sustained recovery goals.

• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers to form comprehensive intervention strategies.

• Manage client referrals to various resources within the community, ensuring a holistic approach to treatment and recovery.

• Educate and assist family members and primary caregivers in understanding and managing mental health challenges faced by their loved ones.

• Actively engage in continuous professional development initiatives, honing skills that enhance service delivery and client outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

In this role, you will work with a diverse client population experiencing a range of mental health issues, including anxiety disorders, depression, substance use disorders, and family dynamics. Your therapeutic techniques will be tailored to accommodate individuals of different age groups and familial situations, empowering them to navigate their mental health journeys effectively.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or LCSW-R in New York State.

• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
\n
• Demonstrated proficiency in using electronic health record systems, such as AVATAR, for efficient documentation and communication.

Preferred Experience\n

• Previous experience working as a mental health counselor in a clinical setting.

• Understanding of both physical and emotional comorbidities that may affect mental health.

• Familiarity with the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices and ethical guidelines.

• Knowledge of medication-assisted treatments and the impacts of various medications.

• Exemplary written and verbal communication skills, allowing for effective client interactions and documentation.

• Strong interpersonal skills, along with a sympathetic approach that fosters supportive client relationships.

Compensation and Benefits\n

The salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
