The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility required to accommodate patient demands.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough, trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate each patient’s trauma history, functioning, and needs.

• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to facilitate trauma processing.

• Deliver engaging individual and group therapy sessions, helping patients build coping strategies and promote emotional well-being.

• Provide immediate crisis intervention support during trauma-related emergencies with a focus on patient safety and stabilization.

• Engage with families to educate them about trauma responses, coping mechanisms, and available resources, enhancing their ability to support their loved ones.

• Maintain precise, confidential documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards, ensuring all patient records are up to date.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

As a Mental Health Counselor at Wisdom Within, you will primarily work with individuals confronting severe trauma-related issues, including PTSD and dissociative disorders. Our clients often exhibit complex emotional and psychological challenges exacerbated by their trauma history. You will play a pivotal role in guiding these individuals toward healing, fostering resilience, and improving overall mental health and quality of life.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• A current and valid license to practice as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in New York State.

• A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience in mental health counseling, preferably with a focus on trauma.

• Strong foundation in trauma-related disorders, evidence-based treatment modalities, and resilience-building approaches.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating empathy and a non-judgmental demeanor.

Preferred Experience\n

Compensation and Benefits\n
