Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct initial mental health evaluations through video consultations or telephone sessions, documenting findings meticulously from the first interaction until the conclusion of treatment.

• Assess clients' mental, behavioral, and emotional health by utilizing standardized assessment tools and clinical interviews.
\n
• Develop individualized treatment and intervention plans tailored to the needs of individuals, couples, families, and group therapy settings.
\n
• Facilitate engaging and supportive individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
\n
• Monitor patient progress regularly, making adjustments to treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective outcomes.
\n
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to enhance client care continually.

• Stay informed about patients in hospital settings by following up with the attending physicians to ensure continuity of care.
\n
• Educate and empower family members and primary caregivers to support their loved ones dealing with mental and emotional challenges.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

You will engage with a diverse range of patients, including children, adolescents, adults, and families facing mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction. Your role will be to deliver culturally competent care that respects each individual’s unique background, ensuring they feel safe and understood during their treatment journey.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• A valid, current license in New York State as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker-R (LCSW-R).

• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).

Preferred Experience\n

• Demonstrated experience working as a mental health counselor or therapist in community health or clinical settings.

• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, preferably AVATAR, for documentation and progress tracking.

• Experience addressing both mental health and co-occurring substance use issues.
\n
• A sound understanding of the effects of pharmacological interventions recommended by medical professionals.
\n
• Knowledge of best practices recommended by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a warm and empathetic interpersonal style.
