Job Opportunity

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with a specialty in Oncology, specifically Chemo Certification, to join our team on the Acute Leukemia unit. This role will involve providing high-quality care to adult and geriatric patients diagnosed with acute leukemia, requiring expertise in hematology oncology nursing.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Night
• Schedule: 3x12-Hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
• Floating: Required to other MedSurg Oncology units
• Weekend Shifts: Variable based on unit needs

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years overall nursing experience
• At least 1 year of current hematology oncology experience within the last 3 years
• Chemo Certification (ONS/ONCC) is required
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS are mandatory; NIHSS certification is preferred

Skills Required

• IV Therapy/Infusions and starting/maintaining IVs
• Accessing and managing central venous ports
• Administering chemotherapy and managing related patient care
• Recognizing and communicating abnormal lab values
• Handling oncologic emergencies including Acute Tumor Lysis Syndrome and sepsis
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Patient care for leukemia and blood dyscrasias

Patient Care Details

• Daily Census: 22 patients
• Unit Capacity: 24 beds
• Interdisciplinary support includes Physical Therapy, Radiology, Pharmacy, and more
• Emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention

Orientation and Training

• Orientation Hours: 72
• Initial training includes 40 hours over two weeks
