Work Environment

As a remote position, the Licensed Mental Health Counselor will engage with patients through our secure telehealth platform. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth, comprehensive assessments to identify the specific needs and treatment goals of individuals seeking substance use disorder support.
• Collaborate with patients to create personalized treatment plans that integrate evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
• Facilitate engaging individual counseling sessions and dynamic group therapy discussions that empower participants on their recovery path.
• Work closely with psychiatrists, addiction specialists, and other health professionals to provide coordinated care and address all aspects of patient well-being.
• Offer timely crisis intervention support during substance-related emergencies to promote positive outcomes and safety for patients.
• Provide educational resources to patients and their families regarding addiction, recovery strategies, and community resources available for support.
• Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards by maintaining accurate and confidential patient documentation.
• Actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing professional development initiatives.
• Stay informed on the latest research and treatment advancements in the field of substance use disorders.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role is centered on supporting a diverse range of individuals seeking help for substance use disorders. You will engage with patients from various backgrounds, tailoring your therapeutic approach to respect their unique circumstances and recovery journeys. Patients may present with a variety of challenges, including but not limited to alcohol, prescription medication misuse, and illicit drug use, each requiring sensitivity, understanding, and an individualized treatment method.

Qualifications

• A master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in the state of California.
• In-depth knowledge and experience with substance use disorders and evidence-based recovery-oriented care.
• Demonstrated capability in providing both individual and group therapy within the context of addiction treatment.
• Strong interpersonal skills complemented by a non-judgmental and empathetic approach to patient interactions.
• Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries while upholding ethical guidelines and ensuring patient confidentiality.
• Comfortable utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems and related computer applications effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively as an integral part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team focused on achieving comprehensive patient care.

Preferred Experience

While one year of experience in mental health counseling is required, candidates with additional experience in addiction treatment, group facilitation, and crisis intervention will be given preference. Familiarity with telehealth practices and technology is also advantageous, given the nature of this role.

Compensation and Benefits
