Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations in the field alongside police officers to determine the necessity for involuntary detention applications under California Welfare and Institutions Codes 5150 and 5585, ensuring appropriate care in high-stress scenarios.

• Maintain meticulous and confidential records of patient information, adhering to all legal and ethical standards while safeguarding sensitive data.

• Accompany law enforcement on mental health responses, providing immediate assessments and interventions for individuals experiencing mental health crises, ensuring a compassionate approach.

• Effectively communicate with law enforcement, Crisis Stabilization Units (CSU), hospital staff, and psychiatrists to create a coordinated response plan aimed at minimizing exacerbation of mental health conditions.

• Assist in training police staff on recognizing and addressing mental health episodes to de-escalate situations proactively and reduce reliance on force.

• Provide short-term crisis counseling to non-violent patients undergoing mental health episodes, focusing on stabilization and linkage to ongoing therapeutic services.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The LPCC will primarily serve arrestees and community members experiencing mental health crises. You will be responsible for addressing a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and trauma. Compensation and Benefits\n

The salary for this role ranges from $52,000 to $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
