Key Responsibilities

In your role as an Orthopedic Physical Therapist, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Directing physical therapy treatments with a focus on preventing disability, relieving pain, and restoring muscle function in alignment with the individualized care plan.
• Overseeing physical therapy assistants to ensure the effective implementation of treatment protocols.
• Conducting thorough evaluations of clients' physical abilities through specialized diagnostic tests and functional assessments.
• Assessing home environments to provide recommendations that enhance client independence.
• Administering therapeutic exercises and functional activities, including manual and non-manual interventions, tailored to meet individual client needs.
• Evaluating and adjusting prosthetic and orthotic devices while working closely with physicians for necessary modifications.
• Maintaining detailed clinical records, including initial evaluations, care plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries for each client.
• Participating actively in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure comprehensive treatment planning and progress evaluation.
• Providing education to clients and their families on the use of therapy devices and overall rehabilitation programs.
• Supervising Physical Therapy Assistants in their delivery of care in accordance with state guidelines.
• Submitting documentation promptly, adhering to branch policies for clinical and payroll processes.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on a diverse population of clients requiring orthopedic rehabilitation, ranging from those recovering from surgeries to individuals managing chronic conditions. You will work closely with clients to build trust and foster an environment where patients feel supported throughout their journeys to recovery. Your role is critical in helping clients regain their independence and improve their quality of life.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate who possesses:

• A Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program; a Doctorate in Physical Therapy is preferred.
• A valid and current Physical Therapy licensure in the state of Virginia, in good standing.
• A minimum of one year of relevant experience, ideally in an acute care or home care setting.
• Current CPR certification to ensure safety in emergency situations.
• A valid driver's license and auto insurance to facilitate travel for home visits.
• A strong commitment to clinical excellence, quality care, and improving patient outcomes.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with clients and their families.

Preferred Experience

Preferred candidates will have experience working within interdisciplinary teams and a solid background in orthopedic rehabilitation. Familiarity with community resources and regulatory guidelines is advantageous. A proactive attitude towards continuous learning and professional development will also be highly regarded.

Compensation and Benefits
