Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough health histories and perform detailed physical assessments to evaluate patients’ pain conditions.
• Prescribe and oversee pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions tailored to each patient’s specific pain management needs.
• Provide educational guidance and counseling to patients regarding their treatment processes, ensuring they understand the objectives of pain management therapies and the importance of compliance with prescribed regimens.
• Manage and provide care for patients suffering from both chronic and acute pain conditions, utilizing expertise in pain disorders.
• Collaborate with a team of physicians and healthcare providers to formulate effective treatment plans, continuously monitoring and adjusting as needed.
• Demonstrate strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills to accurately identify and treat complex pain disorders.
• Utilize various diagnostic testing methods to determine the underlying causes of pain, ensuring a comprehensive treatment strategy.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as nerve blocks, spinal injections, and the management of pain pumps, aligning treatment with patient preferences and beliefs.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and treatment protocols within our electronic health record system.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Nurse Practitioner role primarily focuses on adults experiencing a range of pain syndromes. You will work with patients suffering from chronic pain conditions, including but not limited to, neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia, and post-surgical pain. This position requires a thorough understanding of patient psychology, as addressing pain involves not just physical treatment but also support and reassurance to help patients cope with their conditions.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution.
• Valid and active New York State Nurse Practitioner license.
• A minimum of two years of experience in pain management or a related clinical setting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of pain disorders along with the ability to evaluate and treat complex pain cases.
• Proficient in prescribing medications, with an emphasis on safety and compliance issues such as checking the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP).
• Demonstrated skill in performing diagnostic tests and procedures relevant to pain management.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities to connect effectively with a diverse patient population.

Preferred Experience

• Advanced skills in interventional pain management techniques, including but not limited to, spinal injections and nerve block procedures.
• Experience working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team-focused on enhancing patient outcomes.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth services.
