Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, your day-to-day tasks will include:

• Conducting thorough preliminary interviews to assess clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral health and documenting this information from the initial consultation to the conclusion of treatment.
• Developing and implementing individualized intervention and recovery plans tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups.
• Facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions, employing various therapeutic techniques to encourage healing and personal development.
• Monitoring client progress and making necessary adjustments to treatment plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses, to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
• Following up on the treatment of clients hospitalized to ensure continuity of care and effective discharge planning.
• Proactively identifying and addressing behaviors or challenges that may impede clients’ recovery journeys.
• Supporting family members and caregivers in understanding and managing mental health challenges, fostering an inclusive approach to treatment.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will work with a diverse client population experiencing a variety of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and substance use disorders. This demographic spans different age groups, backgrounds, and cultures, providing a dynamic and engaging clinical experience.

Qualifications

To be successful in this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid professional license as an LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW in California.
• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
• Previous experience as a mental health counselor, demonstrating a deep understanding of therapeutic practices.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with the following experiences or skills will have a competitive advantage:

• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR.
• Strong background in addressing both physical and emotional health conditions in conjunction with addiction treatment.
• Familiarity with the best practices established by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
• Solid understanding of the pharmacological treatments prescribed by medical professionals and their potential impacts on clients.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, alongside solid interpersonal skills that foster rapport with clients and colleagues.

Compensation and Benefits
