Work Environment

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work onsite within our state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility. Key Responsibilities

• Implement therapeutic exercise programs and support mobility interventions, including gait training, to improve patients' functional independence.
• Monitor resident progress closely, documenting findings accurately in our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system to ensure continuity of care.
• Facilitate a positive and motivating experience for residents, encouraging their active participation in therapy sessions.
• Maintain a safe environment by ensuring proper equipment usage and adherence to safety protocols during therapy activities.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that includes licensed Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, nursing staff, and social workers to provide comprehensive care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily support older adults who may be facing challenges related to physical injuries, surgical recovery, or age-related health issues. This population requires a compassionate approach, as many residents may also be dealing with cognitive limitations. Your role as a PTA will have a direct impact on their recovery journey, helping them achieve memorable milestones such as walking independently or regaining the ability to perform daily activities.

Qualifications

• A valid New York State PTA license is required.
• A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred, demonstrating your foundational knowledge in physical therapy principles.
• Current CPR/BLS certification to ensure patient safety and care.
• Demonstrated compassion and patience when working with elderly patients and others with physical impairments.
• Strong communication skills paired with keen attention to detail, essential for both patient interactions and documentation.
