Key Responsibilities

As a Nurse Practitioner in Internal Medicine, your key responsibilities will include:

• Conducting thorough assessments and formulating management strategies for both acute and chronic conditions within the autonomous scope of practice as permitted by New York State laws.
• Performing comprehensive health histories and physical examinations, meticulously documenting findings to ensure continuity of care.
• Ordering, interpreting, and acting upon laboratory tests, radiology, and other diagnostic studies to inform clinical decisions.
• Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that may include both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, adjusting as necessary based on patient progress.
• Setting measurable patient health outcomes, evaluating the effectiveness of treatment plans, and making modifications to improve health indicators.
• Providing health promotion and preventive care education aimed at empowering patients and their families about lifestyle choices and management strategies.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily serves adult patients, addressing a diverse range of health issues commonly encountered in internal medicine. You will foster long-term relationships with your patients, providing continuity of care that is vital for achieving positive health outcomes. Your compassionate approach will aid in managing chronic conditions while also educating patients on preventive measures.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Nursing with specialization as a Nurse Practitioner is required.
• Possession of current New York State Registered Professional Nurse and Nurse Practitioner licenses.
• Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner is essential.
• Achievement of BCLS and ACLS certifications, demonstrating competency in advanced life support.
• Exceptional clinical skills combined with strong interpersonal and communication abilities are essential for effective patient interaction and care coordination.

Preferred Experience

While a minimum of 3 years of experience in an advanced practice role, specifically within an internal medicine setting, is preferred, we value candidates with exceptional skills who demonstrate a strong commitment to quality patient care over specific experience.

Compensation and Benefits
