Key Responsibilities

In your role as a Physical Therapist, you will:

• Direct personalized physical therapy treatment to prevent disability, alleviate pain, and enhance muscle function, while adhering to individualized care plans.
• Oversee and mentor Physical Therapy Assistants during therapy sessions, ensuring high standards of care and treatment adherence.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients' functional abilities using diagnostic tests focused on muscles, nerves, and joints.
• Assess home environments to recommend necessary modifications that promote patient independence and safety.
• Implement prescribed physical therapy modalities, including manual therapeutic exercises, traction, massage, and the use of physical agents.
• Evaluate and fit prosthetic and orthotic devices, providing recommendations for adjustments in collaboration with physicians.
• Document all evaluations and treatment plans meticulously, contributing to each client's clinical record in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Capture and report patient progress to interdisciplinary team members, facilitating collaborative care approaches.
• Teach clients and their families about therapeutic devices and supportive exercises, fostering greater involvement in their own care.
• Stay engaged in ongoing professional development while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations related to physical therapy practices.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The patients you will serve at Encompass Rehabilitation Center encompass a diverse population, including those recovering from surgeries, injuries, and chronic illnesses. Many of our clients seek rehabilitation services post-hospitalization, while others may require ongoing support for degenerative conditions. Your expertise will not only help them regain motor function but also improve their quality of life by setting tangible rehabilitation goals in partnership with each patient.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

• A valid Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) and licensure to practice in the State of Virginia.
• A minimum of two years of clinical experience in a physical therapy setting, with focus on acute care or home health preferred.
• Current CPR certification and a valid driver's license, including automobile insurance.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, allowing for effective patient and family engagement.
• A proactive and collaborative attitude, ready to work as part of our interdisciplinary team.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates with additional experience or specialization in outpatient rehabilitation, sports medicine, or geriatrics will be highly regarded. Previous experience with electronic health records and familiarity with patient documentation systems will also enhance efficiency in this role.

Compensation and Benefits
