Work Environment\n

This position is a full-time, remote role that provides flexibility while maintaining a strong commitment to delivering quality mental health counseling. Although the primary office operations are conducted remotely, you will frequently accompany law enforcement personnel during urgent mental health responses, blending the requirements of mental health evaluation with the unpredictable dynamics of community service. Key Responsibilities\n

• Actively engage with law enforcement during mental health crisis responses to provide immediate support and intervention.

• Assist and train police staff in effectively managing mental health situations with arrestees, aiming to reduce potential conflicts while minimizing the use of force.

• Conduct thorough case management in partnership with external organizations, such as the Department of Mental Health and local psychiatric facilities, ensuring continuous care and follow-up for patients.

• Maintain detailed and confidential records of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
\n
• Establish clear and effective communication with law enforcement, mobile crisis units, hospital staff, and psychiatrists to coordinate services and interventions.

• Facilitate psychiatric evaluations in the field to assess the need for 5150/5585 applications for involuntary hospitalization, using clinical judgment and compassion.

• Provide short-term crisis counseling for non-violent patients experiencing mental health episodes, focusing on immediate stabilization and referral for ongoing care.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The clients we serve include individuals in crisis situations, including arrestees and community members experiencing acute mental health episodes. As a counselor, you will address a variety of mental health conditions, ensuring a client-centered approach that respects individual circumstances and promotes long-term recovery solutions.

Qualifications\n

• Must hold a valid Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) credential in California.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is preferred.
