Key Responsibilities

As a Physical Therapist at Baylor, your key responsibilities will include:

• Directing individualized physical therapy treatment plans aimed at preventing disability, relieving pain, improving or restoring muscle function, and maximizing the client's overall performance.
• Overseeing Physical Therapy Assistants to ensure the correct implementation of the treatment plans.
• Conducting comprehensive evaluations of client functionality through diagnostic and prognostic testing of muscles, nerves, joints, and overall physical abilities.
• Providing therapy services in our rehabilitation facility while following physician-prescribed treatment protocols.
• Administering a range of therapeutic exercises, including manual interventions, instruction on non-manual activities, and functional training.
• Evaluating and modifying prosthetic and orthotic devices as needed, in collaboration with the physician.
• Documenting clinical records meticulously, including initial evaluations, care plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in alignment with agency standards.
• Participating actively in interdisciplinary team meetings, providing insights and recommendations based on observed patient responses to treatment.
• Instructing clients and their families on the care and utilization of physical therapy equipment, reiterating the importance of adherence to the total physical therapy program.
• Updating care plans as necessary based on evaluations and client progress, ensuring that recommendations are communicated to all relevant team members.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will predominantly involve working with individuals experiencing various physical challenges resulting from surgical interventions, chronic illnesses, or rehabilitation needs stemming from injury. You will engage with a diverse client base and adapt therapy approaches to meet the unique circumstances of each individual, ensuring a personalized approach to recovery.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:
- A Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT)
- A valid PT license issued by the state of Virginia
- Current CPR certification
- A valid driver's license and automobile insurance
- A strong foundation in regulatory guidelines and standards pertinent to physical therapy.

Preferred Experience

Ideally, candidates will have:

• a minimum of two years of experience as a physical therapist, particularly in acute care or home care settings,
• proven ability to develop creative treatment strategies that encourage patient engagement and foster recovery.
• Experience supervising Physical Therapy Assistants in therapeutic contexts.

Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from $100,000 to $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
