HR Assistant Our National Conversation (ONC) is a non‑partisan media outlet focused on fostering civil, solutions‑oriented conversations about politics and public policy. As a volunteer leader we help shape America’s future by mentoring a diverse group of student interns. Role Overview We are looking for 3–4 experienced HR professionals to volunteer a minimum of 5–8 hours per week for one year, working closely with a team of interns. The successful candidate will manage the HR department, mentor interns, and support the organization’s growth. Responsibilities Attend weekly team meetings (Friday at noon PST / 3 p.m. EST) and communicate with the team via Slack, Zoom, email, and Google Drive. Lead the entire recruiting, onboarding, and off‑boarding processes. Resolve minor inquiries from student team leaders. Provide guidance and mentorship to interns on HR practices and professional development. Commit to one year of volunteer service (5–8 hours per week). Qualifications Experience in human resources tasks and duties. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently while supporting a small team.
