PER DIEM PHYSICAL THERAPIST (W-2) San Diego Mobile Rehab & Physical Therapy | San Diego, CA | Per Diem | W-2 Employee About San Diego Mobile Rehab SD Mobile Rehab is a concierge, private-pay mobile physical therapy practice based in San Diego. We bring evidence-based, one-on-one care directly to our clients in their home, home gym, corporate fitness facility, or community setting. The practice is founded and led by Dr. Rockie Felder, PT, DPT. We incorporate a select set of advanced clinical tools including the FDA-cleared Neubie neuromuscular electrical stimulation device, to deliver outcomes that standard outpatient settings often cannot match. Per diem clinicians begin with a caseload focused on general orthopedic and functional rehabilitation. Access to specialized technology, including the Neubie, is introduced as the clinical relationship develops and caseload grows. We are growing and looking for the right clinician to join us in serving clients across coastal and central San Diego County. The Opportunity This is a per diem, W-2 employee position for a licensed physical therapist who wants to do meaningful clinical work without the constraints of a traditional clinic environment. You will receive client referrals as they come in through SD Mobile Rehab's marketing, referral network, and inbound inquiries. Caseload volume will grow organically as the practice expands. Our scheduling, documentation, and clinical support infrastructure is already in place so you can focus on clinical care from day one. This is not a position where you inherit someone else's patients. You will be building your own book of clients within an established brand, systems, and referral network. Service Area You will serve clients across coastal and central San Diego County, including: North County Coastal: Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, Encinitas, Leucadia, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Solana Beach, Del Mar Central San Diego: La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Bay Ho, Linda Vista, Mission Valley, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Point Loma, Coronado Inland/Adjacent: La Mesa Territory may expand to additional San Diego County locations as caseload develops. Client assignments will be organized to minimize drive time where possible. What You Will Do Evaluate and treat clients in their home, home gym, corporate fitness facility, or community setting within the San Diego County service area Develop and implement individualized treatment plans across orthopedic and functional rehabilitation presentations, with potential expansion into neurological and performance-based caseloads over time Maintain timely and thorough documentation through our practice management platform (Noterro) Communicate professionally with clients, caregivers, and referring providers Represent the SD Mobile Rehab brand with integrity in every interaction What We Provide An established brand and reputation across the San Diego market A fully built tech stack: Noterro for practice management and documentation, Physitrack for home exercise programming, and HIPAA-compliant scheduling and intake tools Marketing and referral development support Clinical mentorship from Dr. Felder, PT, DPT Client assignments organized to minimize drive time as caseload develops Competitive per diem hourly pay for all compensable time — visits, drive time between clients, and documentation Mileage reimbursement between client visits during your shift, at the current IRS standard business mileage rate California paid sick leave, accruing from your first day worked Self-Generated Client Incentive: Clinicians who develop their own client referrals receive a bonus per self-generated new client. What We Are Looking For Required: Active California PT license Comfortable using a mobile app/timekeeping system to log hours worked and mileage driven each pay period 1-3 years of clinical experience in outpatient, home health, or a similar setting Current CPR/BLS certification National Provider Identifier (NPI) number Reliable transportation, valid California driver's license, and active auto insurance Strong clinical reasoning and comfort working independently without direct supervision Excellent communication with clients, families, and referral partners Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards for handling protected health information Authorized to work in the United States (Form I-9 verification required as a condition of employment) Non-Negotiables: Our clients trust us in their homes and personal spaces. Reliability, punctuality, and consistent communication are baseline expectations. Bonus Points Experience with neurological conditions (stroke, MS, Parkinson’s, TBI, etc.) Outpatient, home health or mobile PT background Bilingual — English and Spanish Familiarity with private-pay or concierge practice models Interest in neuromuscular rehabilitation and emerging clinical technologies, including electrical stimulation modalities Dress Code & Professionalism No uniform requirement, but clinicians are expected to present professionally in all client interactions. We follow a professional athleisure standard: clean, well-fitted athletic or performance wear in solid or neutral colors. No graphic tees or overly casual attire. Closed-toe shoes required. This Role Is a Great Fit If… This works especially well for clinicians who want to add a few high-quality private-pay clients to their schedule or for therapists who want meaningful part-time work with real autonomy. If you're not looking to fill a full caseload right away, that's completely fine. We are building something sustainable. Compensation $60/hour for client time and $40/hour for drive time between clients during your shift, and documentation/charting. This is a per diem, non-exempt W-2 position: taxes are withheld each pay period, and you're covered by SD Mobile Rehab's workers' compensation insurance. You have the option of obtaining your own liability insurance. Overtime is paid in accordance with California law for hours beyond 8 in a day or 40 in a week. Clinicians who generate their own client referrals are eligible for an additional per-client bonus — details discussed during the interview. Mileage: Reimbursed for miles driven between client visits during your shift, at the current IRS standard business mileage rate. You'll log and submit mileage each pay period. Paid Sick Leave: Accrues at the California-mandated rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, usable after 90 days of employment, per the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act. Time Tracking: As a non-exempt employee, you'll log all hours worked each pay period — including visits, travel between clients, and documentation time.
